Parishioner Bill Wahl died a year ago. At his funeral, Glen Milner, a friend of Bill’s and Kim’s, shared some memories, of which I would like to quote a paragraph:
In February 1985, Bill was arrested for blocking a moving train that was loaded with nuclear bombs. Demonstrators knew that the prosecutor for Kitsap County would likely be seeking a maximum punishment of 90 days in jail. During Bill’s testimony at the trial in June 1985, Bill broke down and wept while speaking of the devastating effects of nuclear weapons. It was eye-opening to me, to see such a strong man reveal his inner self. The next day, all demonstrators were acquitted by a Kitsap County jury.
You can hear Bill and Kim (well, mostly Kim) talk about their actions against the Trident Nuclear Submarine Base in a 2012 interview on KEXP at

We have three parish ministries positions that we need to fill:
First is the Social Justice Commission. Our mission statement says that we work for justice, which makes the Social Justice Commission a key part of our ministry as a parish. We currently have three members on the committee, but we need three or more new members to join them, help develop a path forward and re-energize this critical commission. If you are interested, contact Diane Figaro at paa@st-therese.cc
Second, we need someone with a modest familiarity with computers to help Nicole run our live stream equipment. This is crucial. At a time that we’re having only one Mass and that only 20% full at best, the live stream is our best way to keep our parish vibrant. If you are interested, contact Nicole St Hilaire at Nicoles@st-therese.cc
And last, there is a vegetable garden behind the Parish Center that was begun by a school parent for a lifeskills class at the school. Unfortunately, he has moved out of town, opening the opportunity for someone to continue the garden to support St. Mary’s Food Bank. If interested, contact me, John Russell, at jvrussell85@gmail.com.
