Week Two: Laudato Si’ Action Platform Goal: Response to the Cry of the Earth.
The Response to the Cry of the Earth is a call to protect our common home for the wellbeing of all, as we equitably address the climate crisis, biodiversity loss, and ecological sustainability. Actions could include the adoption of renewable energies and energy sufficiency measures, achieving carbon neutrality, protecting biodiversity, promoting sustainable agriculture, and guaranteeing access to clean water for all.
The climate is a common good, belonging to all and meant for all. At the global level, it is a complex system linked to many of the essential conditions for human life . (LS 23) Everything is related, and we human beings are united as brothers and sisters on a wonderful pilgrimage, woven together by the love God has for each of his creatures and which also unites us in fond affection with brother sun, sister moon, brother river, and mother earth. (LS 92)
PRAYER: God of Creation, we pray for our communities, that they may be attentive to the Cry of the Earth and promote clean energy, ensure clean air and water for all, protect your creation, and its biodiversity and climate, in particular. May we rediscover our original vocation as carers of our common home and of one another. AMEN.
