John wore clothing made of camel's hair and had a leather belt around his waist. His food was locusts and wild honey. Matthew 3:4
Happy Second Sunday of Advent!
I’m not going to suggest we all dress in camel’s hair clothing (oops – found a camel’s hair vest online for $4500 – times change!) or eat locusts and wild honey (though vegans may be onto something) but I would suggest that we refrain from the secular Greedfest that December 25 has become. Let us experience Advent as waiting for the miraculous moment when God emerged as humankind.
In Romans, Paul prays, “May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to think in harmony with one another, in keeping with Christ Jesus . . .”. This is a good prayer for the synodal process now in its second cycle. Contrary to the cynicism of some, the process did not die in Rome but has returned to the churches with the publication of “Enlarge Your Tent, the Document for the Continental Stage.” St. Therese listening sessions will be Tuesday, Dec. 13, from 7:008:30 pm and Sunday, Dec. 18, from 3:00-4:30 pm via Zoom.
This is also the time to reflect on our gratitude for our St. Therese Parish and how we can let that be reflected in our giving. Two excellent stewardship reflections were offered in the last two weeks and are available on st-therese.cc. To pledge your support for your parish, please do so here.
There are two ministry positions that are in desperate need of being filled: We need someone familiar with social media marketing strategy. They will evaluate and refine a multi-platform, cross-generational social media marketing plan intended to attract young people, Catholics and non-Catholics to our church. If interested, email Diane Figaro at paa@st-therese.cc.
We also need a team of people to help Nicole keep our livestream alive. This is an absolute necessity in these times! If interested email Nicole St. Hilaire at nicoles@st-therese.cc.
